Financial Assistance

HSA can help provide financial assistance to community members of Aurora, IL and the surrounding areas for the care of their companion animals in times of crisis or financial difficulty.  We can help pay for general veterinary care, spay or neuter, vaccinations, dental care, behavior training and emergency care.  HSA will not cover elective surgeries with no health benefits, such as ear cropping or declawing.

By completing the application, you agree to the following:
  • You agree to fill out the application completely and as accurately as possible
  • You agree to have your pet spay/neutered, as long as medically safe (if pet is not already)
  • You agree to pay a co-pay; amount to be determined based on financial ability and total veterinary cost
  • You agree to use one of our approved veterinary clinics or behavior trainers

Application Process
  • Complete the application, providing requested information as accurately as possible
  • Submit the application, providing documentation of veterinary diagnosis/estimate (if applicable) and financial need
  • Research other ways to get financial assistance- ask your vet for a payment plan, apply for Care Credit, ask family or friends for assistance

Application Review and Approval
  • After submitting your application, a volunteer will review your application and will follow up with any requests for additional information
  • Your application and documentation will be reviewed by the Board of Directors
  • We will respond with an answer within 48 hours. Emergency submissions will take priority
  • Funds will be paid directly to care provider, we will not reimburse you for costs already paid

You may be denied financial assistance for any of the following reasons
  • You will not agree to allow your pet to be spayed/neutered (as long as medically safe)
  • You don't agree to use one of our approved care givers
  • You will not pay any co-pay
  • You misrepresented anything on your application
  • You breed, or intend to breed, pets
  • You can afford to pay the costs, even though it may be difficult

If you have questions regarding the application process or need assistance in filling out the application, please email humanesocietyofaurora@gmail.com.
