Volunteer Process

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to fill out a volunteer application. The Volunteer Coordinator or a Board Member will review your information and contact you via email.

We work with various agencies, shelters and rescues.  HSA does not house  any animals.   We require a commitment of two (2) hours per month.

If you are accepted into the program, we require a $25 donation to the Humane Society of Aurora prior to attending orientation. This is to help offset the costs of the uniform t-shirts and other administrative costs. Students and Senior Citizens receive a reduced rate of $12 with appropriate documentation. You can inquire about the reduced rate after approval to the program.

Once you've made your payment, you will be scheduled for a Volunteer Orientation. During this orientation, you will receive a Volunteer Handbook and a uniform t-shirt. Other v
olunteer training requirements may be required.

Some Community Service hours may be consider depending on the availability of senior volunteers. This will be decided on a case by case basis.

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.   Those 16 to 18 years of age may volunteer but must do so with a parent or guardian at all times.

Volunteer hours vary at this time.  Again based on the availability of more experienced  volunteers.
