Volunteer ProcessThe first step to becoming a volunteer is to fill out a volunteer application. The Volunteer Coordinator or a Board Member will review your information and contact you via email.
We work with various agencies, shelters and rescues. HSA does not house any animals. We require a commitment of two (2) hours per month. If you are accepted into the program, we require a $25 donation to the Humane Society of Aurora prior to attending orientation. This is to help offset the costs of the uniform t-shirts and other administrative costs. Students and Senior Citizens receive a reduced rate of $12 with appropriate documentation. You can inquire about the reduced rate after approval to the program. Once you've made your payment, you will be scheduled for a Volunteer Orientation. During this orientation, you will receive a Volunteer Handbook and a uniform t-shirt. Other volunteer training requirements may be required. Some Community Service hours may be consider depending on the availability of senior volunteers. This will be decided on a case by case basis. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Those 16 to 18 years of age may volunteer but must do so with a parent or guardian at all times. Volunteer hours vary at this time. Again based on the availability of more experienced volunteers. |
HSA dedicates its volunteers and resources to assisting regional animal rescues and animal control agencies, providing resources for pet owners in need of assistance and supporting and educating the public regarding responsible pet ownership.
